Be a Sleeping Beauty in Hair Extensions
Hair extensions can transform an ordinary girl into a full-maned fairytale princess. The confidence and volume that come from soft, silky strands of hair glued or crimped to your hair can completely change your whole look, attitude, and happiness. So you decide to have hair extensions done, or you order some hair strands and put them in yourself!
So you've got your new extensions in, you're getting used to the new weight and length of your hair, you're playing with your brand new hair extensions in the mirror… and then you look at your bed. How on earth are you going to sleep with all that gorgeous new hair?
Actually, it's not that big of a deal. All you need to do is tie your hair in a loose ponytail, and you're good to go. This will protect your hair extension beads or glue, and it's also very comfortable. To best protect your natural hair and your extensions, a lot of hairdressers and hair clients recommend a satin scrunchie, which will protect the hair and keep the cuticle safe and smooth. Or, if you don't have a scrunchie, use a metal-free hair elastic. Metal pieces can snag, pull, or break your hair - that's a risk you don't need to take! If you have long hair with your hair extensions, you can experiment with making a loose high bun at the top of your head, so that you don't sleep on your pony. Make sure that your hair is completely dry before you go to bed, to protect your hair extensions from damage.
Many people swear by satin or silk pillowcases - and there's actually a lot of evidence that the silk fibers and the satin weave will allow your hair to glide, rather than pull, across the pillow as you sleep, resulting in less damage from friction. You can find satin pillow cases at many home furnishing stores for very low prices - a great investment for your hair extensions. Plus, when you travel, you can just take this satin pillowcase with you - put it with your hair extension brush and your shampoo and conditioner, and you've got a travel-ready hair extension kit!
You've spent some good time and money on those hair extensions - just a few tips can help make them last, so you can sleep even better and enjoy them even longer!
