Samsung CLX 2160 N - The Wallet Friendly And Reliable Printer

The Samsung CLX 2160N printer is one of the newest electronics playthings out there today. It isn't just a color laser printer. It's an itsy bitsy, teeny weeny Liliputian version of a color printer. Compared to the rest of Samsung's line of printers, this one is like Tiny Tom. Not only is it Samsung's smallest but is officially known as the world's smallest color laser printer. It has plenty of MFP qualities although not all. The best toner for this printer is the Samsung CLX 2160 N printer toner.

MFP stands for multi-function printer. The unit is a very solid and dependable workhorse for printing, scanning and copying. The one thing it doesn't do is fax. We'll explain why further below. The Samsung name is synonymous with high quality electronics. Just because it's a small package at a low price doesn't mean it's a cheap product. Certainly, Samsung has more expensive models that do everything but make your breakfast for you but this little baby does all the basics and does them well. The N at the end of the model name means it's network compatible. Plug it into a router or switch and everyone can share it. Nice going Samsung!

It's a well known fact that printer manufacturers rely on you buying their CLX 2160 N cartridge (consumables) to make up for the markups they no longer make on their hardware. Heck, a company like Samsung will have dozens of toner cartridges alone to go with their large selection of models. While other printers sell you all colors in a single package, this one lets you buy them one by one. If you print in B&W only, you only buy black toner. If you do color, you start off with all 3 colors. Very often, when you print you use up one or two colors more than the others. By buying them one by one, you buy just what you need and you don't have to throw away half of the blue you bought just because you're low on yellow.

Knowing the Samsung CLX-2160N uses 4 toners, the speed for the color laser is 4ppm in A4. It is important to realize that there are two different types of print out times, color and the mono (a fancy word for black and white). The print out time for the color is 26 seconds. The print out time for the mono is 46 seconds. The manual however is duplex.

The function of a scanner in Samsung CLX 2160N is you put a paper in the scanner and it turns it into an image which you can see on your computer. This scanner has a 1,200x500 dpi Resolution. It scans to USB/Folder/Application/Network.

The copy has two different speeds. Slow and fast. Sorry, just joking. One speed is for Color and the other for mono (black and white). Again, the speeds are very similar to the printing function. In color mode you get 4ppm for an A4 sized document. In B&W you get 16ppm for an A4 document. These are pretty impressive numbers for a machine of this size. Measuring from a standing start figuratively speaking, you wait 18 and 45 seconds respectively for the first copy to print out.

Unlike most of other Samsung printers this printer due to it's small size, try as hard as they could, the boys in the white coats at Samsung labs just couldn't get the fax function into this puppy. You wouldn't think that space has a lot to do with it but I guess it does. Either that or they wanted to keep the price down or they want you to pay more for a printer that faxes too. Hard to say how these guys think.

The average price for that of a Samsung CLX-2160N is about $420 USD but you can get it for less than half of that if you shop the web for competitive pricing. This cost may be pricey but how do you compare a one of a kind printer to anything else? Besides that, it's a Samsung. Samsung is a quality name. Samsung makes printers that cost a lot more too.

Buying a four pack Samsung CLX 2160 N toner which is needed for this Samsung model is way more beneficial than buying a toner separately. The four pack will cost about 70 US D, while a separate toner will cost you no less than twenty US D. The four pack toner comes in colors black and rainbow. This is one of Samsung's newest models.
